Physiotherapy

Our treatment approach is unique in that our business model allows us to create treatment plans tailored to each patient.

How is that?

Well, because each treatment session is one-on-one with a physical therapist we can do exactly what is needed. Our therapists are never working with more than one patient at time, there are no technicians telling you how to do exercises, you will not be in a large gym with other patients on the floor. It will only be you and your therapist.

So, what does that mean for you?

It means that you get exactly what you need every time you come in. If you need an hour of body work, myofascial release, cupping, dry needling, and joint mobilizations we can do that. If you need an hour of coaching on run form, we can do that. If you need a detailed movement analysis, we can do that.

Why is this important?

Because each session is tailor to your exact needs, we can often accomplish your goals in much fewer visits when compared to traditional physical therapy. We typically see our patients once a week for four to six weeks.

Here is what to expect from a treatment plan:

Each treatment plan starts with an initial evaluation. The evaluation is one hour long and includes: a detailed medical history, a detailed history regarding your current condition, goal setting, a movement analysis, a posture analysis, a full musculoskeletal screen including strength and range of motion testing, a detailed explanation on you condition and how we will address it, instructions on a home exercise program, and if time allows 15 – 20 minutes of manual therapy treatment. During the initial evaluation we will determine your how many treatment sessions will be required to accomplish your goals.

Once the initial evaluation is done, your next sessions will be treatment sessions. The interventions performed during each treatment session depend on your condition and where you are in your healing process.

A typically treatment session will include 30 – 45 minutes of manual therapy, followed by 30 – 15 minutes of corrective exercises.

Our initial focus during treatment sessions is to relieve pain and restore range of motion. We find that the most effective way of doing this is by using hands-on, manual therapy treatment techniques. Relieving pain and restoring range of motion is very important early in the treatment plan. By addressing these two outcomes we can then focus on movement mechanics. As your pain decreases and range of motion improves, we begin to progress your corrective exercises to address muscle imbalances. This typically is addressing the root cause of your pain. Many injuries are associated with some type of muscle imbalance (muscles being too tight or too weak, or a combo of both). Correcting these imbalances is vital to making sure your pain does not return!
